The Necessity of Travel
Greetings. In the next few weeks many of us will be taking trips. To see friends and relatives, explore new and familiar destinations, go to the beach, or simply to take a break from the routines of work and our everyday lives. And in the process, whether we realize it or not, we will all be exposed to a remarkable world that is filled with genius and innovation.
Travel opens our eyes to new places, people, thinking, and possibilities. It helps us to understand that there are other ways to look at life and the challenges and opportunities we face as individuals, companies, and organizations. It takes us out of our comfort zones and, with a little bit of effort, teaches us how to get more comfortable with ourselves and unfamiliar settings. It keeps us young and alive.
So whether you travel around the corner or around the world, think of each new journey as a great chance to learn and grow–with your eyes and imaginations wide open to the wonder that awaits. Because travel is a very special gift and a necessity for anyone determined to make a real difference.
We're off on our annual trip to Sweden later today. It's the place where my wife Lisa grew up and, while it becomes more familiar each year, it's always filled with new insight and surprises. And during our visit I'll try to share some of its magic and some fresh ideas that will hopefully spark your thinking in new and different ways.
We win in business and in life when we approach every day as though it's a journey to a far off land, and when we come to see the necessity of travel in a world filled with amazing secrets.
Cheers and safe travels wherever you choose to go!
